Its an old cliché, but it still rings true……."You can always be sure of death and taxes".

Maybe it comes from our youth, but many of us believe we are bullet-proof and accidents only happen to other people. The simple fact is, the next time  you go to cross the street you don’t know if there is a bus just around the corner with your name on it.

Making a Will and planning for your Estate doesn’t come to mind too often when you are young. Unfortunately, too many leave it too late.  Young couples often overlook the need to consider Powers of Attorney - just in case that bus doesn’t finish you off, but leaves you incapacitated.  These are not pleasant thoughts, but the simple truth is, unfortunate things happen at inopportune times.  You need to be prepared.

If what happens to your Estate is important to you, then it is important that careful Estate planning is undertaken.  This means more than simply making a Will.  It becomes necessary to consider issues such as the taxation implications for your beneficiaries - surely  you would prefer to leave your Estate to your children, not the Tax Office.

Be prepared, make your Will now, plan for your Estate, give Power of Attorney, consult  John Boag or Lesley McDonnell of our Wills & Estates team so you can be prepared, just in case your bus arrives early…….
